UFC 270 Midnight Mania! Ciryl Gane vs Francis Ngannou and the Rest of the Card

UFC always Bringing you the best and wild from the world of MMA each and every time!

Welcome to UFC Midnight Mania!

The UFC’s first major event of the year is always a pretty big deal. And 2022 is no exception.

This year, the promotion will get things started with UFC 270, which will be topped by a high-stakes heavyweight title fight between undisputed champion Francis Ngannou and interim titleholder Ciryl Gane. Fights don’t get much but a great deal of the drama revolves around Ngannou and ex-coach Fernand Lopez, rather than “The Predator’s” actual opponent.

For his part, Gain was largely friendly with his former training partner. In a recent interview, the French athlete was a complete complement to Ngannou’s notorious power and authority, although he was careful not to appoint Ngannou to these states.

The co-headlining attraction of UFC 270 is definitely quite the opposite of the main event, as flyweight champion Brandon Moreno wants to defend his title against former division king, Davison Figueroa in the final installment of an exciting trilogy.

Aside from these two title fights, UFC 270 has a number of other interesting fights, including a heavyweight clash between Alexei Oleinik and Greg Hardy and a featherweight showdown between Movsar Ivlov and Ilya Tapuria. It doesn’t have the star-studded ensemble cast of UFC 268 and 269 cards, especially after losing a few fights, but it still looks like a great opener for another year of high-level MMA action.

Keep reading for a few crash courses on card title fights and its other top attractions.

Francis Ngannou vs. Ciryl Gane

The heavyweight title will make it to the UFC 270 main event, as undisputed champion Francis Engannu (16-3) looks to defend his title against Cyril Gann (10-0), who was TKO’s winning division interim champion in August.

UFC 270 Midnight Mania

The matchup is endlessly interesting on paper. Ngannou, who ascended the throne in March through a knockout by Stipe Miocic, is probably MMA’s toughest puncher perhaps in all combat games. UFC President Dana White famously compared the French-Cameroonian star’s ability to “hit the Ford Escort as fast as he can.” The science behind that comparison is somewhat elusive, but there is no question about Enganu’s tendency to destroy. Since joining the UFC in 2015, he has picked up knockout wins against Curtis Blades (twice), Andrei Arlovsky, Alastair O’Brien, Kane Velasquez, Jr. Dos Santos, Jরrgenho Rosenstrik and Miosic.

In 2022, Ngannou has strengthened its ridiculous power with seemingly better, proven takedown defenses than ever before and has adopted a more economical approach to combat. At this stage, it will take a special fighter to defeat him.

Enter the count. The interim champion, who previously competed in Muay Thai, is undefeated in the MMA. He made his UFC debut in just four fights in his pro career and has since won impressive victories with the likes of Tanner Bosar, Dos Santos, Rosenstroke, Alexander Volkov and Lewis.

Like most heavyweights, Gan has a lot of power, but his biggest strengths are his technical striking and his amazing agility and footwork – he moves extremely well for a 250-pound man. For a new fighter in MMA, he has a remarkably good rounding skill. Striking is not uncommon for her bread and butter, neither takedown nor frozen. In short, he seems to have the perfect skill to defeat Ngannou – if he can avoid being beheaded in the first round or two.

Surprisingly, this does not make the matchup interesting. This is further encouraged by the fact that Ngannou and Gane are former training partners – a relationship that has definitely grown stronger in recent weeks. Ngannou is also in dispute over a heated agreement with the UFC. A loss would destroy most of his negotiating power, adding another layer of conspiracy.

It’s just a huge fight with huge bets from every conceivable angle.

Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo III

Moreno vs Figueiredo

UFC Flyweight Champion Brandon Moreno (19-5-2) has previously fought twice against former division champion Davison Figueroa (20-2-1).

The pair first met in December 2020, when Figueroa was the champion and fought in a majority draw in one of the best fights of the year. This result meant that the Brazilian retained the title, but his erratic nature meant that the match again was critical. We got it in July, and the result was much more decisive, as Moreno won to submit to Figueroa in the third round, taking the flyweight throne in the process.

Moreno’s win against Figueroa was so one-sided that the pair did not feel the need for a third fight – at least not now. Even though the UFC decided to book a trilogy for the UFC 270, there was probably no better option for Moreno.

While this fight probably won’t happen, no one is complaining that it is. Their first fight was incredible. The second was the showcase that made Moreno the bright star of the UFC. Whatever the outcome, a third of them should be exciting.

Moreno, who was infamously cut off by the UFC in 2018, has looked like a new man since returning to the campaign in 2019, playing a deadly ground game, defeating Kai Cara-France, Jusier Formiga, Brandon Roval and Figueroa in ridiculously flashy striking attacks.

Although Figueroa is one step behind Moreno in terms of speed and tactics, Madure makes every one of his fights interesting because of his rugged strength and propensity to kill. Just ask the nine that he dropped out and the eight he submitted.

Will Moreno prove his superiority over Figueroa once and for all, or will he restore the former champion throne and establish a rare tetralogy with his Mexican rival? As always, there is no way to know until the cage door is closed.

Other Attractions: Unbeaten Contenders Clash

At the moment, it is safe to assume that any fighter from the Caucasus is a force to be reckoned with. The region has been pumping high-level MMA talent for years, and the trend is showing no signs of slowing down.

One of the most compelling young fighters in the region is the undefeated former M-1 bantamweight champion of the Russian republic of Ingushetia, Movsar Ivloyev (15-0), who battled an undefeated teammate in Ilya Tapuria (11-0). UFC 270.

Ivlov will meet Tapuria at Featherweight on the main card of the event. It will be the Russians’ sixth battle at the UFC’s Octagon after a resounding victory over Seung Woo Choi, Enrique Barzola, Mike Grandi, Nick Lentz and Hakim Daud. Now ranked 13th, he is widely regarded as the future featherweight title challenger – even a champion.

That being said, Evlev faces a tough challenge in UFC 270. Georgia’s Topuria, who was born in Germany and fought outside of Spain, is not ranked in the featherweights but has not looked less impressive since joining the UFC in 2020, shaking effortlessly. -Yousef Jalal, Damon Jackson and most impressively, BJJ wizard wins against Ryan Hall. With seven wins and three wins in the knockout stages, he has proved that he is capable of finishing the fight from any position.

Adversity is almost dead-even — an indication that we are in for a competitive fight. And anyone who finds a way to win can look forward to fighting an opponent in the featherweight top 15 — perhaps even in the top 10.

Best of the Rest Card

Alexei Oleinik vs. Greg Hardy

Oleinik is one of the most experienced fighters competing in MMA today and one of the best deposit specialists in heavyweight history. But at the age of 44, he fell into a difficult time, losing to Rearview Mirror to Derrick Lewis, Chris Ducous and Sergei Spivak পথে on the way to the first two knockouts.

Hardio skid. After the victories against Jগrgen de Castro and Maurice Green, former NFL players Marcin Tibura and therefore Tuivasa have faced knockout stoppage rates — another indication that he is not nearly as good looking when fighting in low-level competition. His name might be enough to save his job if he loses in the third round in a row to Oleinik, but three consecutive losses look bad for any fighter.

Jasmine Jasudavicius vs. Hansen

Women’s MMA has never been better — and the flyweight division could be the best of them all.

The division is still ruled by Valentina Shevchenko, who appears increasingly undefeated in every fight, but it is also alive with emerging talent, with fighters such as Tayla Santos, Alexa Grasso, Manon Fiorot, Casey O’Neill and Erin Blancfield.

In the UFC 270 undercard, two more flyweight prospects will see themselves asserted, as K Hansen (7-4) battles Jasmine Jasudavicius (6-1).

Hansen, on 22, defeated Jean-Yves Freck through the triangle-armbar in his UFC debut in 2020, but defeated Corey McKenna by decision in his second Octagon appearance later that year. Despite this loss, he remains a promising genius, and after spending all of 2021 to navigate important personal challenges, he will be keen to remind the world of that fact against Jasudavicius.

Jasudavicius is one of the top prospects outside of Canada. He won a UFC deal in September with a decisive win over Julia Polastri in Dana White’s rival series. At 32, he’s making his debut a little later than most, but he seems to have the chop to compete এমনকি even if the oddsmakers don’t like his chances against Hansen. Don’t miss this one.

Usman vs. Adesnia and Tony Ferguson vs. Connor McGregor?

This is going to be another exciting year for MMA fans in 2022 that everyone is looking forward to

A number of exciting title fights have already been confirmed, including an all-French heavyweight showdown in January between Francis Engannu and Cyril Gann in California and more exciting competition on the horizon, such as Leah McCourt vs. Cined Kavanagh in Dublin.

After such an unexpected turn of events last year, the world’s leading sports writers and experts have already made a short list of possible selections for the 2022 collision, taking into account public opinion.

Israel Adesnia vs. Kamaru Usman

Many of us know they are friends, and they are both Nigerian born, but it is a fight that will happen one day. Before heading to UFC 268, Usman said that if the money figure was correct, he and Adesanya would take part in the war.

Usman Welterweight has cleared the division, Adesnia has cleared the middleweight division, so they are the best in their respective weight classes and there are no other fighters left.

It is understandable – and indeed the middleweight is going to be a super fight.

Usman is a huge welterweight, so there is a possibility of jumping 15lb in middleweight. Then there’s the best style of fighting – one of the best wrestlers in the MMA against one of the best strikers.

It has all kinds of ingredients to be a super classic

Tony Ferguson v Conor McGregor

Although the fight was supposed to be in 2017 but now it is understandable to do it next year.

There’s a lot of bad blood and plenty of front and back on social media but, most importantly, both men have a special need to win. Stylistically, the pair also like to stand and fight.

McGregor is the biggest attraction in MMA history and we all know what he did for the sport.

But he has seen another win with three defeats in his last four fights, where Ferguson has lost his last three fights. This much-anticipated fight will redefine their careers and draw huge attention.

A win for McGregor would bring him back into the debate for a title shot. With Ferguson, it’s a little different. Victory will set another big contest – and I want to see Ferguson vs. Michael Chandler. The loss for the 37-year-old, however, will see fans’ favorite Ferguson move forward with limited options.

You must give something.

Nate Diaz v Khamzat Chimaev

Diaz has already stopped this fight altogether, but we can only hope

Chimayev, admittedly, is probably fighting a few more battles against someone like Diaz. The 27-year-old fought three times in 2020, before the Covid-19 forced him to work for a year.

It is unthinkable that Chimayev could win his next two fights and fight Diaz by the end of 2022. Diaz could consider Chimayev a worthy opponent if he can win against top-ranked fighters with impressive performances.

Both men are incredibly unusual characters. Diaz carefully builds the image of a rogue fighter who answers only to himself, while Chimayev is eager to build his personality as a formidable rapper in the Welterweight division.

The build-up will be awesome and the fight will be even better, considering how the two like to look octagonal.

Chris Cyborg vs. Kayla Harrison

Harrison, a free agent and two-time Professional Fighters League champion, must have some decisions to make in 2022. Will he stay with PFL or sign up with UFC or Bellator? Personally, many want to see Harrison on ballet and fight featherweight champion Cyborg.

The cyborg ballet needs a serious challenger and, it makes sense for Amanda Nunes to sign with Harrison Belletter in one of the biggest headline disasters since losing her bantamweight belt to Juliana Penner at the UFC.

He will be 12-0, a match up with a judo expert and expert striker Cyborg for an exciting fight. Hard to roll with Cyborg, a proven champion and Harrison has spent most of his professional career steaming opponents in the PFL.

But there is no better way to prove that you are the best than to take the best, and, as soon as Nunes is probably tied up in the penny rematch, Harrison should start his takeover tour on the belt.

Yaroslav Amosov vs. Michael

We haven’t had a British ballet champion since Liam McGuire in 2015 but, after avenging his 2019 defeat to Douglas Lima in a rematch earlier this year, Page is now in pole position to fight for the welterweight title.

Bellator President Scott Coker is expected to fight. Page has to do what no one has done before and defeat Amosov.

The 28-year-old Ukrainian is unbeaten in 26 bouts and has won eight fights in Bellata. Amosov’s superior wrestling will make him a favorite against Page, but the 34-year-old Londoner has made a career out of spectacular knockouts.

Could the MVP end Britain’s six-year wait for the Ballet world champion? Strange thing happened.

George Masvidal vs. Colby Covington

An angry match that makes perfect sense.

Not only are both Masvidal and Covington losing to UFC welterweight champion Usman, the fighters are friend-foe who truly dislike each other.

While on the American top team, the two were inseparable – training together, living together and documenting their lives on YouTube.

It’s a friendship that will soon be a talk, leading to a split between the fighters in 2020 as Covington split from the same gym. Both have come out publicly about their hatred of each other and have repeatedly called for a fight.

There is speculation that the UFC may face them as rivals in their reality TV series Ultimate Fighter, with the pair meeting inside the octagon to end the season.

Whichever way they go, this fight will have to be in 2022.
